An airfoil for use in a flowing air stream has a cross-sectional shape comprising a planar face portion (b) and leading and trailing edge portions (a, c) extending from respective opposite edges (e. f) of the face portion (b) in a direction out of the plane of the face portion to one side thereof so that the blade has a substantially channel shaped cross section, and having a flange portion (d) associated with and extending from the trailing edge portion generally back toward the leading edge portion. Details of the wind energy conversion system in which the airfoil is used are also disclosed. |
