发明名称 METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING IRON NITRIDE-BASED MAGNETIC POWDER AND MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM
摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron nitride-based magnetic powder which is small in particle size, has a very high coercive force, an optimum saturation magnetization for high density recording as well, and moreover excellent storing stability. <P>SOLUTION: An iron oxide or a hydroxide is used as a starting material for manufacturing the iron nitride-based magnetic powder which contains at least an Fe<SB>16</SB>N<SB>2</SB>phase and the particle of which is particulate or ellipsoidal in shape having an average particle size within the range from 5 to 20 nm. In a method for manufacturing iron nitride-based magnetic powder, at least one element of rare earth metal elements, aluminum, and silicon is coated onto the starting material and then the Fe<SB>16</SB>N<SB>2</SB>phase is formed by performing reduction treatment and nitriding treatment. After the formation of the Fe<SB>16</SB>N<SB>2</SB>phase, a coating treatment for coating the particle surface with an inorganic compound or/and an organic compound is performed, where the inorganic compound contains at least one element of rare earth metal elements and aluminum, and the organic compound made from an organic carboxylic acid, an organic sulfonic acid, an organic phosphorus acid, an ester compound of them, or an amid compound of them. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
