PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video transmission system and a video transmission method which allow for transmission of a high resolution video by using an existing transmission system.SOLUTION: A video signal transmission system has a differentiator for calculating the differential signal of a low resolution video signal and a high resolution video signal of the same video, a compressing section for generating a compression differential signal by compressing the differential signal, and a multiplexing section for multiplexing control information including the delay time required for compressing at least the differential signal, and the compression differential signal to the auxiliary signal area of the low resolution video signal, and generating a multiplex low resolution video signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
