PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for high performance graphic display, by which power consumption is prevented from increasing. SOLUTION: A data compression device and method for graphic display in a computer system has a full frame buffer 12 and a compression frame buffer 20. Pixel data renewed for a display data element (a raster line, e.g.) are sent from the full frame buffer 12 to a display device and compressed and trapped in parallel at the same time in a compression frame buffer for the unchanged display data element to be directly regenerated from the compression frame buffer in the next reflesh cycle. |
