A fuel tank filler system has a special cap with a spring loaded closure which is opened when the filler nozzle is inserted. Because the nozzle cannot be inserted as far down as in a conventional filler system, a guide tube (9) is fitted to the inside of the filler system. The front of the inserted nozzle engages the tapering upper part of the guide tube and is guided into a locking position. The guide tube effectively forms an extension to the filler nozzle and ensures an early activation of the fuel cut off. The tapering part of the guide tube has venting slots. |
