An adhesive (I) comprises: (a) 10-98 wt.% of an aqueous polymer dispersion containing at least one copolymer comprising an ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid, their anhydrides and/or ester derivatives; (b) 1-10 wt.% thickening agent; (c) 0-90 wt.% filler; (d) 0-5 wt.% pigment; (e) 0-10 wt.% processing aids; (f) 0-40 wt.% plasticizer; (g) water and; (h) tackifier.
