PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and quickly obtain a composited image with excellent image quality when a user reads RAW data of image data with high sensitivity and image data with low sensitivity recorded on a recording medium and performs image composition. SOLUTION: The image data with high sensitivity and the image data with low sensitivity obtained from high sensitivity pixels and low sensitivity, respectively of a solid-state image pickup element are recorded on the recording medium with RAW data. When respective data d in a pixel unit in the case of compositing these image data is defined as d = (high + MIN(high/th, 1)×low)×MAX((-k×high/th) +α, p)(wherein, high: data after gamma correction of a high sensitivity image signal, low: data after gamma correction of a low sensitivity image signal, p: total gain, k: a coefficient, th: a threshold, andα: a value (≈1) determined by a scene), the respective values k, p, andαwhich a camera automatically sets in accordance with a photographing scene are recorded as the parameters for image correction on the recording medium together with the image data.
