A method of fabricating an in-plane switching mode LCD is provided to solve a wavy noise problem by covering the active layer by a source electrode and a drain electrode. A gate pad part, a thin film transistor part and a finger part are defined in an insulating substrate(100). A transparent conductive layer and a first metal layer are sequentially formed on the substrate. The first metal layer and the transparent conductive layer are patterned to form a gate line including a gate electrode and a gate pad, a pixel electrode pattern and a common electrode pattern. An active layer(121) is selectively formed to cover a thin film transistor part of the substrate. A second metal layer is formed on an entire surface of the substrate including the active layer. A data line including a source electrode(126) and a drain electrode(128) is formed by patterning the second metal layer, the source electrode and the drain electrode cover an upper surface and a side surface of the active layer, and the drain electrode is patterned to cover one portion of the pixel electrode pattern. A passivation layer is formed on the substrate including the data line. The passivation layer is patterned to expose the gate pad. |
