PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a vehicle type determination in details by using a camera.SOLUTION: A vehicle type determination device includes: registration means for registering first information on an installation state of a camera and second information on shape models of characteristic parts of each vehicle; image input means; feature quantity extraction means for extracting a prescribed feature quantity in an image from the image; association means for associating each of feature points in the image having the extracted feature quantity; shape estimation means for acquiring shape data indicating a vehicle shape by calculating a geometric position in a virtual three dimensional space of each feature point on the basis of the registered first information; correction means for correcting an orientation of coordinates of the shape data of the vehicle in order to compare the shape data of the vehicle with the second information on the shape models; and vehicle type determination means for comparing the shape data of the vehicle with the second information on the shape models and determine the shape for a specific part of a vehicle of determination object for determination of the vehicle type.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
