PURPOSE:To provide the laser beam machining method and machine capable of meeting both of oxidation prevention and oxidation acceleration on the irradiation surface in laser beam machining to plot various patterns on the metal surface of a material to be machined by laser beam irradiation. CONSTITUTION:The material 4 to be machined having the metal surface is arranged in a hermetically sealed vessel 3, the inside of this vessel 3 is formed into a high vacuum or a substitutive gas atmosphere and the metal surface of the material 4 to be machined is irradiated with a laser beam 7 from the outside through a transparent cover 28 of the hermetically sealed vessel 3, by which plotting is carried out on the metal surface by an irradiation locus of the laser beam. |
