The tool (21) has a number of magnetic poles (23) to supply magnetic fluxes to permanent magnets. The number of magnetic poles supplying the fluxes is smaller than the number of overall magnetized permanent magnets of an electrical machine, such that the poles simultaneously supplying the fluxes are assigned to the magnets, which are not adjacent to each other. The position of the magnetic pole is changed in relation to the position of the permanent magnet. An independent claim is also included for a method for magnetizing a permanent magnet of an electrical machine e.g. brushless direct current motor.
