PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine capable of restraining variation in a flow rate of exhaust gas flowing through exhaust ports.SOLUTION: When one of an exhaust valve 1a and an exhaust valve 1b is rested for each of cylinders #1-#4 by operation of a valve rest mechanism 7 in correspondence with the cylinders #1-#4 by an actuator 9 in a single valve rest mode, the exhaust valve positioned on the outermost side is rested in the cylinders #1 and #4 positioned on an end of a row of the cylinders #1-#4 arranged in one row. That is, the exhaust valve 1a of the cylinder #1 and the exhaust valve 1b of the cylinder #4 are rested. In exhaust ports 3a and 3b in correspondence with the exhaust valves 1a and 1b on the outermost side, the exhaust gas is difficult to flow due to a distance to a converging part (position P1) or a curvature. When the exhaust gas does not flow to the exhaust ports 3a and 3b by execution of the single valve rest mode, the cause of variation in a flow rate of the exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust ports 3a and 3b of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine can be eliminated. |
