PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of deposit from being promoted by condensation water generated in an EGR passage of an engine and thus prevent failure caused by accumulation of the deposit.SOLUTION: A control device for an internal combustion engine includes an EGR valve that can open/close an EGR passage, and an ECU opens/closes the EGR valve in accordance with an operating state of the engine. The control device further includes: determination means for determining whether or not condensation water is generated in a flow passage of EGR gas including the EGR passage (Step ST3); and EGR control means for closing the EGR valve (Step ST6) if an air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas detected by an air-fuel ratio sensor becomes lean beyond a predetermined range compared to a theoretical air-fuel ratio (Yes in Step ST5) when an affirmative determination (YES) is made by the determination means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
