In a first station, a continuously or intermittently advanced endless belt is sterilised, e.g. by gamma or UV radiation, and supplied with solid nutrient, e.g. by sprays and/or rollers before seeding with organism capable of growing in the nutrient, e.g. bacteria, yeast, fungi or cells. In a following station incubation proceeds as the belt passes, at desired temp. produced by an electric heater, in a meander path round a series of deflector rollers. The multiplied organism or prods. thereof are removed from the belt in a third station, using a blade, brush or chemical separator and can be sucked into a collector, after which the belt returns to begin a new cycle.
