PURPOSE: To improve combustion by communicating a main combustion chamber with an auxiliary chamber by a communicating hole, leading out a guide groove from the communicating hole toward the central part of the main combustion chamber, and forming the guide groove in such a manner as to be gradually made shallower as it approaches the central part of the main combustion chamber and also gradually made wider. CONSTITUTION: A main combustion chamber 2 is provided in a cylinder 1, an auxiliary chamber 5 is provided in a cylinder head 3, and a communicating hole mouthpiece 24 of the auxiliary chamber 5 is fitted in an opening 3b of a cylinder head surface 3a facing to the main combustion chamber 2 to communicate the main combustion chamber 2 with the auxiliary chamber 5 by the communicating hole 6. In this case, a guide groove 15 is led out from the communicating hole 6 toward the central part of the main combustion chamber 2, and the guide groove 15 is recessed only in the bottom 28 of the communicating hole mouthpiece 25. The guide groove is formed in such a manner as to be gradually made shallower as it approaches the central part of the main combustion chamber 2 and also gradually made wider. Thus, forcing of a forced stream 11 and diffusion of expanded gas 37 are promoted so as to improve combustion.
