摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To generate cation with low power consumption by exposingβ-alumina A1 forming a thermoelectron emitter and a mixture of inert substance partially to the surface of the mixture. CONSTITUTION: Microparticles ofβ-A124 represented by chemical formula Na2 O, 5Al2 O3 are mixed with a powder of inert substance 26, e.g. charcoal or diatomaceous earth, to produce a paste which is applied, by about 1mm, to a filament F 16 and hardened through gradual heating to form a coating 14 having parts or points 30 where theβ-A124 and the substance 26 are exposed. When a switch 20 is turned on to feed a current from a battery 18 through lead wires 17, 19 to the F 16, the coating 14 is heated and Na ions are emitted when a temperature of about 600-1000 deg.K is reached. The coating 14 delivers an electron to the F 16 during that operation and provides an Na atom emitting Na. Na ions passes through the lattice structure ofβ-A124 and migrates on the surface 28 before being discharged to a gas environment 12.</p>
