A rail-like insert (20) extends over the width of the rubber blanket cylinder (1) and joins the ends (11,13) of the rubber blanket (30). One (13) of the ends has a fixture element (32) possessing a barb (33a,b). The fixture element is held in a barb-shaped recess (25a,b,c) formed in the slot (22) and tensions and holds the rubber blanket on the cylinder. A positioning or lifting mechanism (100) moves the position of the covering surface (123) of the rail-type insert. The rubber blanket has a first pressure layer (131), a second compressible layer (132) and a third support layer (133). A duct (5) extends from one end to the other of the cylinder.
