PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residual quantity detecting device of a coin hopper for detecting considerable less quantity of residual coins in a holding bowl. SOLUTION: When a rotating shaft 164 rotates, since a spherical body 222 is pressed toward a recessed part 224 by a contact body 226, the inner face of the recessed part 224 is brought into partial contact with the outer circumferential face of the spherical body 222 to make the inner face of the recessed part 224 conduct to the spherical body 22. The bottom end part of the spherical body 222 is brought into contact with the contact body 226 by pressing force to make the spherical body 222 conduct to the contact body 226. When a coin C comes into contact with a rotary disk 106 and with a detection terminal 206, since a detector 214 is made conductive through the coin C, a coin signal CS is outputted. When coins C decrease and no coin C exists on the rotary disk 106, since the rotary disk 106 is not conductive to the detection terminal 206, an empty signal ES is outputted.
