<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system capable of achieving an updating function of a printer driver through a network by simple system configuration, a printing apparatus, a printing control apparatus, a driver updating method for the printing system, a driver program, and a recording medium recording the program. <P>SOLUTION: In the printing system 100 provided with a printer P, host computers HC1 to HC3 in which printer drivers are individually installed, etc.: when a USB memory in which a driver program is recorded is installed, the printer P distributes updating information to respective host computers HC to inquire whether the driver is to be updated or not. If a version is newer than the already installed driver, the host computer HC returns an updating request to the printer P.
