PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide opening/closing equipment which can prevent the abnormal quick closing of an opening/closing body by a payout stopping means, and which can easily release a malfunction in the payout stopping means. SOLUTION: This opening/closing equipment is equipped with an opening/closing drive unit 30 which makes the opening/closing body 10 operate for opening/closing on its upper side, a payout stopping means 40 which stops the payout of a flexible long member 41 when its payout velocity reaches a predetermined value or above during the payout of the flexible long member 41 and which releases a payout stop state by the loosening of the flexible long member 41, and the like. The opening/closing equipment holds the lower side of the opening/closing body 10 by the flexible long member 41, so as to inhibit the quick closing of the opening/closing body 10 at the velocity of the predetermined value or above. The opening/closing equipment 30, which is equipped with a tension sensing means 43 for sensing the tension of the flexible long member 41 at the stop of the payout, makes the opening/closing drive unit 30 operate in an opening direction under the condition of the presence of a sensing signal made by the tension sensing means 43.
