An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to improve the viewing angle by applying an NR(Natural Rubber) film to a lower 1/4 phase retardation film in ECB(Electrically Controlled Birefringence) mode and to reduce a cost due to using the lower 1/4 phase retardation film. An LCD comprises a first display plate(100), a second display plate(200), and a liquid crystal layer. The first display plate comprises a first substrate(110), reflective electrodes(194), transmissive electrodes(192), and a lower alignment layer(11). The second display plate comprises a second substrate(210), common electrodes(270), and an upper alignment layer(21). The liquid crystal layer is inserted between the first display plate and the second display plate. A lower 1/4 wavelength phase retardation film(14), a lower 1/2 wavelength phase retardation film(13), and a lower polarizing plate(12) are attached to the external side of the first display plate in sequence. An upper 1/4 wavelength phase retardation film(24), an upper 1/2 wavelength phase retardation film(23), and an upper polarizing plate(22) are attached to the external side of the second display plate in sequence. The lower 1/4 wavelength phase retardation film is an NR film. The lag axis of the upper 1/4 wavelength phase retardation film makes an angle of 0 to 10 degrees with the lag axis of the lower 1/4 wavelength phase retardation film. |
