SOLUTION: A drill 471 is provided with a base material 474 and an abrasive resistant film 475 formed on the base material 474 and containing (Ti, Al)N. A total number of projections generated inevitably during the formation of the abrasive resistant film 475 and exceeding 0.5μm in height is 15 or less in three rectangular surface areas selected randomly on the surface of the abrasive resistant film 475 and having a lateral dimension of 24μm and a longitudinal dimension of 18μm.
