PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grasp a practical symptom without precisely measuring a bone shape by determining single or multiple real number values satisfying an equation about multiple echo signals, determining vectorial functions corresponding to the real number values, and converting the echo signals into an image. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic transducer unit 4 is constituted of N ultrasonic conversion elements (cells) arranged two-dimensionally, radiating ultrasonic pulses Ai into the body of a subject and receiving echoes Ae from a bone Mb. The echo Ae from the bone Mb of the ultrasonic pulse Ai emitted from the (n)th cell is received by the (m)th cell, and received (N×N) echo signals are Fourier-transformed. Real number values satisfying the prescribed equation about the (N×N) echo signals are determined, vectorial functions corresponding to the rear number values are calculated, and the bone Mb is formed into an image based on the ultrasonic reflection factor at a point (x, y, z) in an organism.
