PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily switch impact action to drill action or vice versa by means of operations applied to an operating member. SOLUTION: This impact rotary tool includes a switch means by which an anvil 6 supported rotatably relative to a drive shaft 4 is made non-rotatable relative to the drive shaft. The drive shaft 4 and the anvil 6 supported rotatably relative to the drive shaft 4 are provided with respective engaging parts 63, 64 which engage a connecting member 36, so that the connecting member 36 operating as an operating part 16 for operational inputs from the outside is operated is used as the switch means. Operation of the operating part 15 allows the connecting member 35 to change conditions regarding the relative rotations of the drive shaft 4 and the anvil 6 so as to change over impact action to drill action or vice versa.
