PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption and to accelerate response in a recording and reproducing system for displaying image data corresponding to audio reproduction by using a disk medium. SOLUTION: In the recording medium for track-grouping and managing an audio data unit, a picture file obtained by collecting picture data (thumb-nail pictures etc.) corresponding to each track or each group is generated and recorded in the recording medium. In the case of carrying out image display or list display corresponding to the track or the group simultaneously with audio data to be reproduced, the image data to be displayed is obtained from the image file.
