METHOD FOR FORMATTING DATA SECTOR ON MAGNETIC DISK AND MAGNETIC DISK UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently format a long sector without deteriorating performance and to sufficiently present ECC performance enhanced by the long sector in a magnetic disk unit where servo sectors radially exist at equal intervals. SOLUTION: A data format of each zone in a magnetic disk 2 is completed with a plurality of (N) tracks (N is an integer of≥2). Recording capacity per track in an outer-most zone Z#1 is 150KB. The long sector of 32KB in said zone is formatted with a completed track number N#1=3. Recording capacity per track in an inner-most zone Z#m is 80KB.
