PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of preventing backlash and positional deviation of optical components. SOLUTION: The optical unit includes an electrooptical device 44 including a liquid crystal panel 441 and a cross dichroic prism as one body, and an optical component housing wherein the electrooptical device 44 and a plurality of optical elements are arranged in prescribed positions on an optical axis of illuminating light. A component storing member 51 for the optical component housing 5 includes a pair of positioning pins 512. A frame 61 is provided in the electrooptical device 44, and the frame 61 includes a pair of arm parts 611B extending from the main body thereof so as to separately engage with the pair of positioning pins 512 from the inside thereof.
