There is disclosed a system and method for replying to an electronic mail (email) message containing questions or response objects. In accordance with an embodiment, the method comprises identifying a response object in the email message based on a response object marker; parsing the response object from the email message; formatting the response object into a list of response objects in a reply message; and providing a response field corresponding to each response object. The method may also provide a means t o add an object to the list of response objects; and to providing a response field corresponding to each object added to the list of response objects.
