The invention relates to a hydraulic two-way acting damper (1), comprising a damper housing (Ia) in which a piston (14) is arranged, which functions in and divides a damping medium-filled damping chamber (12) into two sub-chambers (12a, 12b). The sub-chambers (12a, 12b) are connected together by at least one damping duct (13), in which, basically in the middle of the piston (14), there is a space (17), in which a first end of a second arm (16a) is arranged. The second end (lßb) of the second arm is coupled to a rotating axis (15) that extends basically outwards at right angles from the longitudinal direction of the damper housing (Ia). The space (17) is pressurized to a pressure considerably greater than atmospheric pressure in that a pressure reservoir (19) is arranged on or in the damper housing (Ia). The piston (14) is divided into two parts (14b, 14c), further damping ducts (14d), which connect the two sub-chambers (12a and 12b) to one another via the space (17) between the piston parts (14b, 14c), being arranged in each piston part (14b, 14c). Due to this connection between the damping chambers (12a, 12b) and the space (17), the pressure in the damping chambers (12a, 12b) is always at least equal to the pressure in the pressurized space (17). Pressurization also on the low-pressure side of the piston means that the risk of cavitation in the damper is reduced, since when the direction of the piston is reversed there is then always an opposing pressure acting on the piston. The damper is intended for damping movements around the steering axis (10) between a vehicle handlebars (5) and its frame (9). |
