摘要 A system and method for processing an image is provided. The system includes an encoder configured to subdivide the image into N subregions. The value of N is computed based upon a spatial resolution of the image, a granularity value and a level of wavelet decomposition. The encoder is configured to perform wavelet decomposition on each of the N subregions. The system includes memory circuitry configured to store image data resulting from the decomposition for later transmission.
