PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having excellent gradation.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an electrophotographic photoreceptor provided with an undercoat layer containing metal oxide particles and an anthraquinone derivative represented by the general formula (1), and a surface protective layer containing a polymer polymerized with a reactive charge transport material having a hydroxyl group and a reactive charge transport material having an alkoxy group; a charging device; an exposure device; a developing device that accommodates a developer including a toner having a volume average particle diameter of 4.0 μm or less; and a transfer device. In the general formula (1), n1 and n2 represent an integer of 0 or more and 3 or less and at least one of n1 and n2 represents integer of 1 or more and 3 or less; m1 and m2 represent an integer of 0 or 1; Rand Rrepresent an alkyl group and an alkoxy group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and r represents an integer of 10 or more. |
