PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormal water discharge preventing apparatus which enables effective utilization of resources by minimizing wasteful water discharge on the occurrence of an earthquake. SOLUTION: This abnormal water discharge preventing apparatus comprises: a water wheel 21 which is rotated by a water flow in a channel 14; a rotary magnet 22 which generates a rotating magnetic field on the outside of the channel 14 by being rotated in synchronization with the rotation of the waterwheel 21; a power generation part 15B which generates electric power by using the rotational magnetic field; a water stop part 19 for stopping the water flow in the channel 14; a shock sensor S for detecting the shock; and a control part 16 which performs control for stopping the water flow by monitoring the shock sensor S through the use of electric power obtained by the power generation part 15B.
