摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly and surely carry out inspection and speed up the inspection by transferring while rolling a can in a direction orthogonal to an axis and picking up images of a surface of the can by an image pickup means. SOLUTION: The inspection apparatus for a surface of a can 1 in which a soft drink, beer or the like is stored includes, for example, a predetermined number of cameras 21 for picking up images of an outer face of a neck part of the can 1, and timing sensors 22 set sideways of a transfer path 10 and spaced by a predetermined distance from a move locus plane of the axis of the can 1. When the cans 1 are transferred rolling on the transfer path 10 in a state in which the cans 1 are aligned, the cans are sequentially detected by the timing sensors 22, in accordance with the timing of which the cameras 21 pick up images of the cans. A total circumference of the can 1 is accordingly picked up. Whether the can is good is judged by distinguishing a gray level of the obtained image by an image-processing apparatus or the like manner. Defective cans are discharged to sideways of the transfer path 10 through air- blowing or the like by a discharging mechanism 30 according to a signal of a discharge timing sensor 24.
