PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic roll capable of reliably transmitting the driving force of a shaft to a sleeve during the increase of the service temperature of the roll, preventing the expansive crack of a ceramic caused by the differential thermal expansion between the sleeve and the shaft, and reliably maintaining the concentricity between the sleeve and the shaft. SOLUTION: The ceramic roll has a structure in which a ceramic sleeve is attached to an outer circumference of a metallic shaft, and the metallic shaft is fixed to the ceramic sleeve by applying the side pressure by an elastic member from a side of the ceramic sleeve. The side pressure is transmitted via turn-slidable true spherical members arranged on both sides of the ceramic sleeve. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
