PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar waveguide laser apparatus eliminating the asymmetry of a temperature distribution caused by a heat dissipation member used to cool a laser medium and thereby capable of achieving a higher efficiency of a fundamental wave laser output and further an SHG output.SOLUTION: A heat sink 8 is provided on a junction surface with a laser medium 5 along an X-axis direction, and includes a periodic comb structure corresponding to a plurality of light emitting points. The comb structure forms a temperature distribution generated by joining the front end of a comb teeth to the laser medium 5 and a periodic refractive index distribution generated by the temperature distribution, in an x-axis direction. A laser beam of a waveguide solid-state laser element 3 forms a waveguide mode in a y-axis direction, and a spatial mode by the refractive index distribution in the x-axis direction. In the comb structure, the comb width of the comb teeth positioned at the outermost end in the x direction or positioned at an n-th from the outermost end (n is a predetermined number or less) is narrower than the comb width of the comb teeth located at other than the outermost end or positioned at an n-th from the outermost end (n is more than the predetermined number).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
