In a video game apparatus 1, a main memory (84, Figure 10) stores an operation guidance program for displaying operation guidance on a monitor 6. This guidance is in the form of a display (6a) of the manual control input device 2 and explanatory text (6b, Figure 13C). When guidance on a particular control member (eg button) or a set of such members is being displayed, the member or set is highlighted on the display by continuous or flickering light and simultaneously the control member or set of members on the input device itself is lit correspondingly. This arrangement allows for complex controls, commands and functions in a game to be explained with reference to the relevant control members or set thereof. |
