PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for synthesizing rear-side images photographed by a plurality of cameras to display a result, capable of presenting a synthesized image with limited uncomfortable feeling to a driver.SOLUTION: A vehicle periphery monitoring device 1 includes a side camera 10 disposed on the side part of a vehicle to photograph a rear side, a rear camera 11 disposed in the rear part of the vehicle to photograph the rear side at a wide angle, a range finder 12 for measuring a distance to a vehicle behind based on the side-camera image photographed by the side camera 10 and the rear-camera image photographed by the rear camera 11, a view-point conversion part 13 for converting a view point so as to match the view points of the side-camera image and the rear-camera image by using the information of the distance to the vehicle behind, an image synthesis part 14 for synthesizing the side-camera image and the rear-camera image matched with each other in view point by the view-point conversion, and a monitor 15 for displaying the synthesized image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
