Disperse dyes conventionally contain a considerable quantity of dispersants which ultimately colour the effluent. The desire was therefore to be able to colour polyesters using unfinished disperse dyes. According to the invention this is achieved by applying the dyes to solid carrier materials, for example small glass beads, then by applying the dye-laden carrier material to the textile material and by transferring the dye under the action of heat.
