PURPOSE:To easily calculate an optimum discharging current (controlled variable) by introducing the technique of fuzzy inference to take many conditions (state variables) as of contsminstion an electrifier into consideration. CONSTITUTION:State variable detecting means 14 to 17 which detect state variables to control the discharging current of an electrifier 1A which gives electric charge to an electrostatic latent image carrier 5, controlled variable control means 6 to 8 which control the controlled variables to control the discharging current, and a rule storage means 12 where qualitative rules to relate state variables and controlled variables to each other are stored are provided. A function storage means 12 where a function to express state variables and controlled variables with at least one fuzzy set is stored and an inference means 10 which calculates the degree of belonging to the set of controlled variables by the degree of belonging to the set of detected state variables in accordance with each rule to infer a controlled variable of highest probability are provided. The controlled variable is inferred and controlled by the inference means 10. Thus, the discharging current controlled variable of the electrifier is automatically and optimally calculated and controlled, and development of contsmention of the electrifier is suppressed to obtain a vivid picture of high density. |
