PRODUCTION OF GUANIDINE DERIVATIVE, ITS INTERMEDIATE THEREOF AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To provide compounds useful as an intermediate for synthesis of an insecticide and a mitecide. CONSTITUTION:Compounds of formula I(R is hydrocarbon or acyl; X is electron- attracting group; Y<1> and Y<2> are O or S; A is divalent hydrocarbon), e.g. S- methyl-N-nitro-N-phthaloylisothiourea. The compounds of formula I can be obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (Z<1> and Z<2> are halogen, or Z<1> and Z<2> together form O) preferably in the presence of a base (e.g. potassium hydroxide) in a solvent (e.g. acetonitrile) at -50-200 deg.C. The compounds of formula I can be converted into the corresponding quanidine derivatives by reaction with an amine, followed by reaction with a compound of formula R<3>-NH(CH2)n-B (B is homocycle or heterocycle which may be substituted; (n) is 0 or 1; R<3> is H or hydrocarbon).
