PURPOSE:To provide a throwaway tip and dispenser for optically detecting the absolute position of the end of the throwaway tip and/or the engagement condition of the tip, in measuring liquid amount, for correctly sucking and discharging a sample. CONSTITUTION:The light, of a beam 20, transmitted through a tip 36 is detected by a photo detector 24, the level of the transmitted quantity of light from the end till the base engaged with a nozzle base, of a tip 36 not yet sucking, of a sample 12 is stored in a reference memory 82, and on the other hand the level of the transmitted quantity of light from the end till the base engaged with a nozzle base, of a tip 36 having put the sample 12, is stored in a transmitted light quantity level memory 80. Characteristic transmitted light quantity levels due to a mark 100 from outputs (a), (b) from both memories are respectively detected by a tip end detector 84, the transmitted light level at the same position longitudinal of the tip 36 is compared therewith on the basis of the mark 100, and the end position of the discharge opening of the tip 36 containing the sample 12 is detected. |
