PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culture apparatus capable of controlling the water content of a medium in an ideal state and excellently raising a plant by a simple structure. SOLUTION: This culture apparatus stores a medium 2 in a culture bed 1 and supplies water to the culture bed 1 by a water supply member 3. A water vaporizing and discharging material 6 having flexibility and water absorbing properties is passed through the culture bed 1 from the inside to the outside of the culture bed 1. The water vaporizing and discharging material 6 has one end connected to the medium 2 and the other exposed to the surface at the external part of the culture bed 1. Water supplied to the medium 2 is transferred through the water vaporizing and discharging material 6 to the external part of the culture bed 1. Water led to the external part of the culture bed 1 is vaporized from the surface of the water vaporizing and discharging material 6 and removed.
