<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supported catalyst-type magnetic adsorbent which can realize effective adsorption and magnetic separation of an object material, to be separated, dissolved, for example, in water and, at the same time, can realize rapid decomposition and removal of the object material captured by a magnetic adsorbent, by active oxygen produced by catalytic decomposition from hydrogen peroxide or ozone, and can easily be regenerated. <P>SOLUTION: The supported catalyst-type magnetic adsorbent comprises a magnetic porous material on which a metal oxide catalyst, for accelerating the decomposition of a peroxide, which is a double oxide of an oxide of one or more metals, selected from Ag, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ti, St and Ba, and iron oxide, has been supported. An object material, to be separated, contained in wastewater, can be rapidly adsorbed, and the adsorbed object material is taken outside of a wastewater path by magnetic separation. An adsorbed material such as an organic matter can be efficiently decomposed and removed by active oxygen produced by accelerated decomposition of hydrogen peroxide or a peroxide such as ozone with the metal oxide catalyst.
