PRODUCTION OF METALLIC MOLD FOR MOLDING GOLF BALL

PURPOSE:To enable the accurate, easy and inexpensive production of the metallic mold at the time of molding the metallic mold for a golf ball having dimples across a symmetrical axial line inclusive of a parting line for bisecting a spherical surface. CONSTITUTION:Plural hemispherical projections 6 for molding the dimples to be formed on the surface of the golf ball are formed on the inside wall surface of the upper mold 2a and the lower mold 2b. The upper and lower metallic molds 2 for molding are previously provided with a cutting margin (d) on the parting plane X of the upper and lower metallic molds 2 for molding and the hemispherical projections 7 for forming the dimples are formed on the inside wall surface of the cutting margin (d) as well. R denotes the diameter of the golf ball 1 and R/2 denotes the radius of the golf ball 1. The upper and lower metallic molds 2 for molding are so constituted that the inside diameter thereof exclusive of the cutting margin (d) provided on the parting plane X of the molds is the diameter R of the golf ball.
