<p>Apparatus for stack injection molding wherein a melt distribution manifold (36) is mounted between two manifold retainer plates (10,50). A number of heated nozzles (16) are seated in each plate (10,50) with the nozzles in one plate (10) extending in an opposite direction to the nozzles in the other plate (50). The nozzles (16) in the one plate (10) are held in place by the manifold (36) being secured to that plate (10). The nozzles (16) in the other plate (50) each have retaining apparatus (54) to hold them in place during assembly and disassembly. Each nozzle retaining apparatus (54) has a main body (56) with a screw opening (58) therethrough and an elongated pin (60) extending laterally therefrom. The pin (60) extends into a hole (64) in the nozzle (16) and a screw (62) extending through the screw opening (58) in the main body (56) is tightened into a hole (68) in the manifold retainer plate (50) to secure the nozzle (16) in place during assembly and disassembly of the manifold retainer plates (10,50). <IMAGE></p> |
