PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking mechanism enabling it to be additionally set on a power type seat slide device without complicating its constitution, etc. and without lowering its controllability, working efficiency, etc. SOLUTION: A series of lock holes 30 are provided on a bottom wall of a lower rail 20 (L, R) and a latch plate 28 integrally having a lock click 28a free to insert into and engage with these lock holes is provided on an upper rail 18 (U, R) free to vertically elevate. This latch plate 28 is energized downward in the inserting and engaging direction of the lock click 28a into and with the lock holes 30 by a lock spring 36, and an electrically driven actuator 21 free to raise the latch plate against energizing force of the lock spring under its traction is provided free of its locking and unlocking motion interlocked with operation of a starting switch 23 to carry out driving control of a motor 14 provided at a remote position.
