A toner for electrostatic latent image development contains toner particles including a toner core (10) and a shell layer (20) covering the surface of the toner core (10). The shell layer (20) includes a hydrophilic thermosetting resin and a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin. The hydrophobic thermoplastic resin is exposed to the surface of the toner particle. A method for producing the toner for electrostatic latent image development includes a toner core production step and a shell layer formation step. In the toner core production step, the toner core is produced. In the shell layer formation step, the toner core obtained in the toner core production step, the hydrophilic thermosetting resin or the precursor thereof, and the hydrophobic thermoplastic resin or the precursor thereof are added to an aqueous medium, and the hydrophobic thermoplastic resin or the precursor thereof is adhered to the surface of the toner core in the aqueous medium. Furthermore, in the shell layer formation step, the aqueous medium is heated, and the shell layer including the hydrophilic thermosetting resin and hydrophobic thermoplastic resin is formed on the surface of the toner core. |
