PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device for an endoscope that reduces assembly time and allows the eccentricity of an image pickup element to be adjusted well by simplifying an arrangement by which the image pickup element is pressed and fixed to the abutting surface of a housing, and also simplifying an arrangement by which a protective member (reinforcing plate) is fixed to the housing. SOLUTION: A retaining ring 48 is fitted into a flexible board 47 having mounted therein a CCD 31 whose eccentricity is adjustable, and a snap fit 52 is attached to a reinforcing plate 49 via a rubber ring 51. Under this condition, the snap fit 52 is pushed into a housing 42 so that a locking pawl 54 at the end of the projection 53 of the snap fit 52 mates with a locking hole 55 in the housing 42 to enable the reinforcing plate 49 to be locked to the housing 42 and to enable the CCD 31 to surely abut against the abutting surface 42a of the housing 42 via the reinforcing plate 49, the retaining ring 48 and a pedestal 43.
