The device determines the gas displacement of a filler gas by a weighed specimen of a substance in a specimen volume using several pressure measurements in the specimen and reference volumes and contains a vacuum pump. The filler gas is hydrogen. The device is a housing made from one piece of metal with chambers for accommodating the specimen and reference volumes.
