GENE INVOLVED IN IMMORTALIZATION OF HUMAN CANCER CELL AND USE THEREOF

Disclosed is a gene involved in the immortalization of a cancer cell (i.e ., an immortalization-determining gene). Also disclosed is a method useful f or a selective cancer therapy targeted for an immortalized cancer cell havin g the gene. An immortalized cancer cell can be determined by using a polynuc leotide comprising a nucleotide sequence which has a length of 15 nucleotide s or longer and can hybridize specifically with a nucleotide sequence compos ed of at least 15 contiguous nucleotides included in a nucleotide sequence d epicted in any one of SEQ ID NOs:1-13. In the determination method, the poly nucleotide is used as a primer or probe for detecting an immortalization-det ermining gene which is highly expressed specifically in an immortalized canc er cell.
